CO SLEEPING

For how long my baby should sleep with us in the same bed?

The answer is not simple, as the decision about when the baby should go to his own bed is complicated. So many parents sleep with their babies in the same bed while others have a small crib next to their bed.

The time it takes each baby to adjust and improve his sleep depends on many factors, such as whether he is breastfed, whether he was born prematurely, how peacefully he sleeps. Many people believe that the babies after 6 weeks can sleep alone and listen their parents through the intercom system. In this way, they argue that not only do parents ensure time for their personal rest, but also that the child having his personal space from an early age is important for his independence and the development of his autonomy.

On the other hand, others believe that it is not bad for the baby to sleep in his parents' room even after his first year of life. They argue that if we are close to our babies it is easier to respond to their needs, for example if they cry, if we need to cover them, if we need to put them back to sleep, etc.). In addition, according to research, important functions of the baby's body, such as breathing, heart rate and temperature, are better regulated in this way. Also, let's not forget that when the mother is close to her baby, the breastfeeding process is facilitated.

A good tip is to go with what makes you feel goodThere's no reason to have your baby in another room and wake up all the time because you're worried. You will understand when you feel ready, as you will decide when your child's age and needs do not require your constant presence by his side. Trust your instincts and everything will be fine.
